Subject: LanTest 1.0.3 - File Server Performance Evaluation Tool
LanTest is an utility designed to test file server performance in a Macintosh
environment. It tests the following operations:
* Creating 100 files of 20kb each
* Opening and closing 100 files.
* Remove 100 files.
* Write 3 Mb to a file.
* Read 3 Mb from a file.
* Lock and unlock 4000 records.
* Read a directory containing 320 entries.
The utility can perform a mixture of these tests using a given number
of times and display the timings as well as an average. All results are
written into an ASCII logfile as well. The utility will count the
number of concurrently running LanTest programs in the current zone, if
not all of these test the same server the number of users displayed
might be misleading.
As all benchmarks, the results must be interpreted carefully and all test
parameters should be documented together with the results.
